Do I Need Scheduled Coverage for My Jewelry?

We recently had a policyholder who lost 1 diamond earring of a set.  The set was worth $1,500.  Because she had special property coverage for Jewelry at $0 deductible, we were able to replace her earring with the same quality diamond at no charge to her.

To ensure your jewelry is properly insured, contact your agent to request that each piece of jewelry be listed as ‘Special Property’ on your policy.  You can choose a $0 or $100 deductible for your jewelry.

It is a good idea to take a photo of each piece of insured jewelry and keep a copy of the photos either with the insurance company or in your safe deposit box
